- What can a custody investigation document?
- We can document parenting-time violations (a parent not returning a child on schedule, or denying court-ordered visitation), unsafe living conditions, substance use, the presence of inappropriate individuals in the home, and general parenting behavior during the other parent's custodial time. All documentation is video and written, prepared to court standards.
- Can this evidence be used in a custody modification hearing?
- Yes. Evidence gathered by a licensed private investigator is admissible in New Hampshire and Massachusetts family court proceedings, including custody modification hearings, guardianship matters, and contempt proceedings for custody order violations. Your attorney can advise on how the specific evidence applies to your case.
- How do you conduct a custody investigation without alerting the other parent?
- All surveillance is conducted covertly from public vantage points. We do not trespass, enter private property, or use any method that would compromise the investigation or violate the law. The other parent is not aware an investigation is underway.
- What if I'm concerned about my child's immediate safety?
- If you believe your child is in immediate danger, contact law enforcement first. A private investigation is appropriate for documenting ongoing concerns that don't rise to the level of an emergency — patterns of behavior, chronic violations, or safety issues that need to be established over time for a court proceeding.

- How long does a custody investigation take?
- It depends on what needs to be documented. A parenting-time compliance check may require one or two surveillance sessions. Documenting a pattern of behavior for a modification hearing may require multiple sessions over several weeks. We plan each case around the specific evidence needed and keep you informed throughout.
